Our Story

The Beautiful Bride

Rashida Safiya Johnson was born and reared in Alexandria, Virginia by her parents, Ronald and Bessie Johnson. After graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1999, she ventured off to attend The University of Virginia. There she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Masters in Secondary Education. She returned in Alexandria to teach middle school English for five years and currently teaches high school English at her alma mater, Mt. Vernon High School. While working, she earned her second Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration on Gifted Children. She enjoys mentoring youth through Delta Academy and Alfred Street Baptist Church’s Senior Youth Ministry. Rashida enjoys reading, exploring various cupcakeries, and spending time with her family. As she embarks on this new phase of life, she is truly excited to Go Green!

Steven DeWayne Green was born and reared in Washington, DC, by his parents, Issac and LaVerne Green. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson Senior High School in 1999, he continued his education at the University of the District of Columbia. After school Steven entered the police academy and soon became a DC Police Officer in the 2nd District. During Steven’s first marriage, he became the father of two beautiful daughters: Sydney Allison Green (age 8) and Skylar Danielle Green (age 7). They are truly the joy of his life! In addition to protecting the various communities in DC, he is an adamant Redskins fan, loves writing music, enjoys perfecting his basketball game with friends on the weekends, and adores his motorcycle. He is extremely excited to marry the love of his life!
